My first cousin, Caitríona, was a very active member of the Irish Coast Guard. She dedicated over 700 hours every year to helping people at sea, entirely voluntarily. On 12/9/2016 she died in a tragic accident at sea while on a search mission. She was only 41, and left behind 2 children. The morning after her funeral I wrote this piece for her.
